East End Hospice provides care and comfort for all terminally ill patients, their families and loved ones living on the North and South Forks of Long Island, including Brookhaven Township. Health care professionals and volunteers offer pain and symptom control as well as palliative care and social, emotional and spiritual support to patients and their loved ones in a comfortable and caring environment.

East End Hospice also seeks to promote awareness of the benefits of hospice care in their communities through educational and informational presentations to civic, fraternal and religious groups, professional organizations and educational institutions.

No one is ever denied care by East End Hospice because of inability to pay.

East End Hospice brings hope to the dying and their families and friends. By affirming life, hospice helps people conclude life with comfort and dignity, offering pain alleviation and symptom control in a familiar and caring environment. Certified in 1991, East End Hospice, a 501(c)(3) not- for-profit corporation, has provided services to over 7,500 terminally ill patients and their families – primarily in patients’ homes under the direction of professionals—and with invaluable assistance from dedicated volunteers.

Their coordinated teams of seasoned health care professionals and volunteers are committed to meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patients and families who come to them for care. Supporting families through grief and bereavement is an essential component of East End Hospice, including a comprehensive children’s bereavement program and Camp Good Grief—our highly acclaimed day camp for children aged 4-16 (Camp Good Grief opened in 2000.)

With over twenty years experience in managing end-of-life care, East End Hospice was acutely aware of the growing need for inpatient care. Not only are hospitals designed for short-term stays, they’re not home-like environments. This spurred East End Hospice President & CEO Priscilla Ruffin and the Board of Directors to campaign for an inpatient hospice care facility on the East End of Long Island to serve the needs of terminally ill patients. Ground was broken in July, 2014. The new facility will allow patients to live out their final days in a home-like setting close to home, here on the East End, with friends and relatives nearby. Learn more about our capital campaign and naming opportunities.
