Hello darlings, Welcome back to Cognac's Corner Magazine
Art fair guru Rick Friedman will debut Hamptons Contemporary Design+Décor Fair at the Southampton Elks Fairgrounds (605 County Road 39) on June 3–5, 2016, bringing the first of its kind world-class international home and decor show to the Hamptons.
Nine years after creating the first and most successful art fair on the East End, ArtHamptons, Rick Friedman has turned his deft touch to design with Hamptons Contemporary. “After I sold the fine art fairs, I took inspiration from the landscape and luxury synonymous with Hamptons living to create a new experience. Art doesn’t have to be something that hangs on a wall—with Hamptons Contemporary, our canvas is the entire home and the paint is all of the elements that contribute to an artful environment. Visitors at this show will find it all at this new luxury fair,” said Friedman.
The 40,000-square-foot Hamptons Contemporary pavilion will showcase Friedman’s vision, as 160+ exhibitors
(http://www.hamptonscontemporary.com/exhibitors) have committed to Hamptons Contemporary. The fair will present luxury furniture and appliance manufacturers, one-of-a-kind artisan pieces, state-of-the-art pool and landscape design, home theater specialists, and more. Hamptons Contemporary will celebrate every aspect of luxury home decor and design, both interior and exterior.
The Friday, June 3 Opening-Night Preview, sponsored by Architectural Digest, will benefit the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF). The special opening-night host committee will include industry luminaries and friends of Architectural Digest and ARF, including Jonathan Adler & Simon Doonan, Chesie Breen, Thom Filicia, Alexa Hampton, Celerie Kemble, Scott Nelson, Ann & John Pyne, Elizabeth Pyne, and Vicente Wolf. The evening will include a silent auction, featuring a limited edition lithograph by James Rosenquist, along with other donations from select exhibitors, to benefit ARF.
The show and additional auction items including a limited edition screen-print by Larry Rivers will also benefit the Southampton Education Foundation, which provides third-party financial support for scholarships and other valuable programs for the students and educators in the Southampton community.
The Douglas Elliman Hamptons Brunch by Design, featuring beautiful summer table settings by Vista Alegre, occurs on Sunday, 11:00 am-1:00 pm in the American Society of Interior Designers NY (ASID) North Garden Lounge and is by invitation only. Guests will mingle with distinguished ASID members, esteemed architects from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the leading Douglas Elliman real-estate professionals on the East End. The breathtaking table settings by Vista Alegre will be on display throughout the fair.
Sylvester & Co. will be partnering with Pointed Leaf Press to bring in world-renowned authors in design and architecture for special book signing events at their booth. Featured Spotlight Exhibits are 30-minute interactive sessions, scheduled periodically throughout the weekend, and geared to inform fair-goers on the current state of the industry. Tour Time, a series of guided tours led by Hamptons-savvy ASID members, will bring attendees to unique design solutions at the fair. During Shop Talk sessions, also led by the ASID, members will discuss stimulating interior design-oriented topics in a roundtable setting. From the psychology of color, to preparing for summer guests, ASID’s design professionals will advise and inspire. These 30-minute sessions will be filled with usable tips and take-away value.
