Stylist Patricia Parenti poses for a photo-op at FLEX DIVISION OF ACCESSORIE CIRCUIT/INTERMEZZO COLLECTIONS
Flex is a trade show that's about today's contemporary active wear-where fashion meets function. This industry event caters to upscale women's contemporary stores and websites. This show was held in January 12-16, 2016 at Pier 94 in NYC and produced by UBM. We all know that women everywhere are wearing gym clothes everywhere and not just to the gym. There are many ways to exercise these days beyond the gym and many of the collections shown had clothes for such activities such as yoga, running or dance. Yes, that is a photo of me by the sign and I want you to go to the vendor's website or to stores listed and purchase these beautiful active wear pieces for yourself to exercise in. Wearing exercise clothes that look as pretty as these in the photos will want you to work out more often for sure. To learn more about this show go to www.enkshows.com.
NANETTE LEPORE PLAY ACTIVE
This is a new line by famed NY clothing designer Nanette Lepore and manufactured by Rousso Apparel Group. The prints are designed just for this line by her in colors the flavors of ice cream. Silhouettes are figure flattering with jackets to cover up after the gym. This is always what I look for when shopping for workout clothing because like many of us I run around NYC doing errands in these clothes. They even have a windbreaker that packs into it's own pocket for space saving in your handbag or backpack. The fabrics have built in dry wicking properties and are from Italy which means you know they are of the highest quality because the mills also produce Tour De France uniforms. This collection is sold at Bergdorf's, Selfridges, Revolve Clothing and go to the website www.roussony.com ;to find other places where you can purchase this collection
Core performance wear with lots of shelf bras for support while running. I only buy athleisure tops with shelf bras because they act just like a bra and cover your nipples and hold your breast up. They have an array of bra styles; ones with back interest, basic and styles with removable pads. The 300 gram nylon/spandex weight fabrics (which despite it's number are lightweight) used are spun tighter than most brands that use polyester/spandex. Other features are drawstring waist so the pants will hug your hips while running and not slide down. One reason to buy this brand is the quality of the fabric compared to the discount store brands I have bought. Let me tell you the higher the spandex count then the chance of the pants riding down to the crack in your butt is nil. S-seams as in the jacket in photo above are great for low to medium impact exercise such as yoga or weight lifting. Price range $34.00- $110.00. Stores to buy www.dicks.com, amazonfashion.com, Equinox Stores, Van Mar stores, www.shapeactive.com for more information on where to buy. This brand is licensed from Shape Magazine.
High performance active wear and lounge wear designed in London and sold out of Los Angeles but made in Portugal. Founder Laura Mead is an avid runner that runs 10 miles every morning. She created this line from her own need of having cute clothes to run in and then meet family and friends for lunch at cafes after all while looking presentable in public. So she created a line that had performance qualities to run in and that translated to looking fashionable and sophisticated in Europe where she lived. I especially like the mixing of solids and prints so you can buy a few different pieces and mix or match them and look different everyday. Fabrics are polyamide-elastane with four way stretch that have quick dry technology. You can buy off of this website www.varley.com.
An athleisure line meant to take you from yoga and then you throw on a coordinating sweater to go out and run errands or meet with friends. Sweaters are made in USA and the line is garment dyed. All garments coordinate with each other. Muted tones in special jacquard prints in soft fabrics that contain natural fibers that have moisture wicking abilities. Wicking means that the moisture from sweat is pulled away from the body and onto the fabric. Styles are skorts that are great for running and then off to brunch, joggers that lace up on side and are laser cut and leggings that have mesh or lace inserts in them. This line is designed in Los Angeles with quality and comfort in mind. Retail price points $48.00 -$120.00. They are sold in such stores as Anthropology or go to www.roussony.com or www.mleisure.com for more information on where to buy.
