Stylist Patricia Parenti poses for a photo-op at Circuit Intermezzo
This season UBM Advanstar aligned the women's, children's and Juniors fashion trade shows all on the same dates August 2-4, 2015 and all at Jacob Javits Center located on 11th Avenue between 34th and 38th Streets in NYC. The shows featured trendy/classic fashions ranging from designer to contemporary price points. Some new trends I spotted are dark denim bell bottom or flared jeans in a high waist, A line skirts, fringe on everything from handbags to skirts in either real suede or ultrasuede. As always I interviewed new and up coming Handbag and Jewelry designers from the show section called fraiche (meaning fresh) which is part of Accessorie Circuit because I thought they had new and unusual concepts compared to what I saw in the big designers. Yes this is me in the photo above dressed in the latest trends which is 1970's hippie era.
A line of bags and purse accessories made out of Salmon (fish) skin.
This is considered a sustainable by product of the food industry. Although its it's an alternative to exotic skin is still considered a luxury leather. In the country of Chili every idem is handmade piece by piece and it takes a very long time for each worker to complete. Many of the pieces are also hand painted and you can see the many colors the accessories are available in the top photo. You can custom order any of the combinations of colors in some of the bags online. Laptop, lipstick, card cases, party bags for cell phones, clutch bags satchel totes are the styles they come in. 24K gold plate hardware and suede interiors as shown in the photos above make these bags worth their price of $700.00 - $1,500.00. This designer was introduced to me by my friend/industry pro Shelly Bromfield whom is heavily into the study of Kabbalah which is what this collection is all about. The meditations that are used everyday are expressed in the jewelry. Even though I have many Jewish friends and live in NYC I knew nothing about the meaning of Kabbalah so here is what it's all about- the spiritual love of the universe, This religion teaches you treat thy neighbor as thy self. All the metals used are in the purest forms meaning no manufactures sealants or chemical coatings. One of the ways Rachel got her line off the ground was designing bracelets for famous designer Donna Karen's store Urban Zen. Some fabrications used are unpolished buffalo vintage bracelets, Lucite wood cuffs and vintage rosary beads. It's all about unification, love thru self and no judgements and she used some of these meditations on crosses. I was told that the jewelry takes on the energy of the person wearing it for the metal turns either lighter or darker. The collection can be ordered at www.rachelbrownjewelry.com
Designers Berna Gabriel and Stephanie Raheb (in the top photo) said the meaning of their line is luxury redefined. They are showing the new look in jewelry which is minimal and that goes along with the clothing trend of the 1970's right now. This collection is made in sterling silver with stones such as cats eye that comes in yellow, blue, green, gray, pink and white that are handset. Some of the other stones used are CZ's and black spinnel (a natural black stone) that are cut like a diamond so it has lots of luster, shine and glimmers in it. One of their specialties is flex wire bracelets plated in silver, vermeil, gold, rose gold and gunmetal. Their collection is all about layering and stacking the different styles. Price points for this fine jewelry collection are $50.00-$650.00 and you can order at www.luxout.com
All recycled sterling silver with 18k gold plating collection based in Switzerland but made in France. Again this is in the style of the new minimalist trend in jewelry that I see going on. Their are two collections in this line that were shown at Circuit. First the basic collection which is minimal and sophisticated in three different finishes of gold yellow, rose and white. These pieces are shown in the bottom photo. The next collection is cruise which is bohemian in feeling and has blackened silver inlays and turquoise stones featured in the top and middle photo. Overall the feeling of this line is free spirit and trendy. This fine jewelry is priced from $100.00-$400.00 and can be ordered from www.avinasjewelry.com
