TV Host Cognac Wellerlane interviews Fashion Designer Emily Saunder about her Fall/Winter 2015 Collection at the Chowder Bar at the Empire Hotel during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week
Saunders Fall/Winter 2015
SAUNDER F/W15 is a tribute to Hilary Mantel's historical novels 'Wolf Hall' & 'Bring Up the Bodies' which tell the behind the scenes story of Henry VIII's split from his first wife Catherine and subsequent split with Rome. The collection is rich and textured with many nods to traditional Anglo fabrics such as tweeds and tartans. The silhouettes sway from romantic and feminine to masculine tailoring the two tied together by a thoroughly modern take on Tudor fashions and times.
MEGAN ISAACS for SAUNDER marks the fourth collaboration with the accessories designer. The new collection, Modern Tudor, marks the fourth collaboration between fashion designer Emily Saunders and jewelry designer Megan Isaacs. Inspired by the fashions and times of Henry the Eighth, the FW15 collection focuses on mixing textures and materials using hematite, pearl, and stud like motifs in gold, silver, and gunmetal plating.

Born in New York City to British parents, Emily Saunders spent her early years growing up in Greenwich Village and attending the United Nations School. Her life was peppered with travels to far-flung places, helping to foster a deep love of art, travel, and fashion.
Saunders attended Wellesley College, where she achieved her Bachelor's Degree in English Literature. While studying abroad in London, Emily spent time working as an intern in the Women's Costume Room at the Royal Opera House, solidifying her appreciation for the art of costume and design. After graduation, Saunders returned home to New York, where she enrolled in the Fashion Design program at Parsons School of Design. She spend the next two years earning her Associates degree there and working for Perry Ellis and then Marc Jacobs for two seasons as a design intern with the Women's Collection. She then set out to pursue her dream creating her own line.
In 2011 Emily launched her namesake brand SAUNDER. With a great concern for quality craftsmanship and a love for her city, the collection is produced (start to finish) in the Garment District. SAUNDER is a reflection of the eclectic taste and temperament of its designer. A traveler at heart, Saunders infuses her line with global influences as well as an overall flavor of downtown New York. Her pieces encapsulate the essence of femininity but with a quirky eclectic twist, providing beautifully unique clothes for every occasion.
