Chief Executive Officer Paule T. Pachter and TV Host Cognac Wellerlane pose for A photo-op at The Long Island Cares Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in Huntington, LongIsland
A ribbon cutting for the new Long Island Cares, Inc,. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank and Humanitarian Center took place on Friday, November 14th at 10 am at 220 Broadway in Huntington Station.
At Long Island Cares, the organization strives to not only meet the immediate need for emergency food relief on Long Island, but also to eliminate the underlying root causes of hunger itself.
A year-round resource, Long Island Cares opened The Harry Chapin Food Bank in February 1980.
The Food Bank receives, warehouses and distributes millions of pounds of donated and purchased food to the needy population of Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York, via hundreds of member agencies: food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, group homes, day treatment facilities, senior nutrition sites and day care centers. In addition to the network of agencies supported through the Harry Chapin Food Bank, Long Island Cares helps get food and assistance into the hands of those in need.
Food Drives are a big part of what we do. They are the source for much of the more than eight million pounds of food we distribute each year. The best part? Food Drives are simple, fun, and a rewarding experience. We offer many free tools to help make yours successful. Complete the quick registration form linked below for access to our official food drive boxes, large color posters, and pickup service.
Looking for a donation drop off site in your area? They have over 100 across Nassau & Suffolk County.
