The Gold Coast International Film Festival is produced by the Gold Coast Arts Center, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the arts through education, exhibition, performance and outreach. An affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Partners in Education Program; GCAC is recognized regionally and nationally as a premiere venue and school for art, film, literature, music, dance and drama.

One of the Arts Center’s premiere programs is the Furman Film Series, now presented by the Gold Coast International Film Festival. This celebrated year-round film screening and discussion series features a sophisticated cross-section of powerful and thought-provoking independent, art, classic and foreign films.
Film screenings include sneak previews of highly anticipated films prior to their release dates, and Long Island films that would not otherwise be screened in the area. Fascinating post-screening Q&A segments with filmmakers, distinguished film critics and scholars add a unique dimension to the film-going experience, giving audiences rare insight into the film’s subject matter, creative process and the business of making films today.
Stretching along the North Shore of Nassau County, Long Island’s Gold Coast has a legendary reputation, immortalized as East Egg and West Egg by F. Scott Fitzgerald in his book, “The Great Gatsby.”
In the early 20th Century, this region was the haven for High Society and people of influence. Movie stars, directors, producers, composers and entrepreneurs found their homes and inspiration in the Gold Coast. Charlie Chaplin, Groucho Marx, Alfred Hitchcock, Francis Ford Coppola, Joan Crawford, the Astors, Vanderbilts and scores of industry artists and business moguls were drawn to the gently rolling landscape that dips into the Long Island Sound.
Today, the Gold Coast is known for acres of white sand beaches, charming villages, first-class museums, world-class shopping and outstanding hotels and restaurants. It also remains a top tourist attraction and place to live. With its storied history, influence and appeal there’s no denying that the Gold Coast is the perfect location for a top-ranked international film festival.
Just a short ride from New York City, Nassau County and the Gold Coast are easily accessible by car, train and the area’s three major airports: John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia, and MacArthur.
Screenings and events at this year’s festival will take place at the Soundview Cinemas in Port Washington and at Bow Tie Cinemas in Great Neck/Port Washington/Manhasset/Roslyn as well as at other venues including the Gold Coast Arts Center in Great Neck.
