The Minstrel Players are honored to be the first area group to stage this award-winning Sherlock Holmes inspired production!

The synopsis of the play takes place during the Holiday Season on December 24, 1936 and Broadway Star William Gillette is admired throughout the world for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes.  He has invited his fellow cast-member to his Connecticut Castle for a weekend  of revelry.  But when one of the guests is murdered the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turns dangerous.  Then it is up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the personal of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears.  The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas Holidays.

The production is subtitled “Holmes For the Holidays” and is set during the Christmas holiday season. It continues the exploits of the actor/playwright who portrayed Sherlock Holmes more than anyone else — the incredible William Gillette. “The Game’s Afoot” is directed by Minstrel Co-founder, Tara Palen, and features new and previous Minstrels. The cast includes: Karen Mercorella, Tricia Ieronimo, Kevin Kelly, Gabriella Stevens, Linda Randolph, Brian Hartwig, and newcomer Alicia James. Starring in this production as William Gillette is the Minstrel Players own ‘Sherlock Holmes’ — Ray Palen. Ray has received acclaim for his Holmes/Gillette portrayals and was most recently seen in the short play, “Checkmate”, as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous sleuth. The ‘World Class’ crew is rounded out with Robert Cashman – Technical Director, Debbie Palen – House Manager, Laura Morella – Assistant Director, Esteban Lopez – Stage Manager, Chris Mitchell and Daniel Schappert – Crew, and Bernard Caprera – Lighting Director. The Minstrel Players are honored to be the first area group to stage this award-winning Sherlock Holmes inspired play!
