Cancer awareness advocates and Brooklyn supporters attended the 4th Annual Pink & Black Tie Gala on May 17, 2012 at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios, 15 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

Brooklyn's own style expert and Pink & Black Tie Gala Chair Stacy London of TLC's “What Not to Wear”  returned for the fourth year to host the gala. Cat Greenleaf of NBC's Talk Stoop hosted the "pink carpet."  Comedian Chuck Nice served as auctioneer for some amazing trips and experiences to Raise the Paddle to support Hope Lodge NYC, the Society's free lodging for those in cancer treatment in NYC.

During the Dinner portion of the event DJ Diamond "The Artist" who has appeared with Recording Artists Beyonce and Prince and has entertained fans on MTV, BET, Fuse, Much Music, Soul Train and Fox 5 television made sure everyone danced and was truly entertained.

Honorees for the evening included:  The New York Daily New, The NU Hotel, Dr. Kathie-Ann Joseph, Assistant Professor of Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center and Director of Breast Services of the South Manhattan Network for the Health and Hospitals, Kangol Kid, Hip Hop Legend and Founder of the Mama Luke Foundation along with Shaunda Lumpkin.

Supporters participation in the Pink & Black Tie Gala will help to ensure that the American Cancer Society can continue to save lives. The American Cancer Society is the only charitable organization to fight cancer on all fronts. The Society invests donations in programs to help people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back. It continues to be the largest non-government source of cancer funding with outstanding results. Virtually every major cancer breakthrough in the past 60 years can be traced to the Society, and 44 researchers funded early in their careers have gone on to win the Nobel Prize

Gala proceeds fund direct support services to Brooklyn cancer patients and their families as well as the American Cancer Society’s national life-saving research. The Brooklyn Office of the American Cancer Society will meet the complex and challenging needs of more than 3,400 families in the borough facing cancer this year.
