At Alison Eighteen Restaurant the staff strives to use products that are produced responsibly, locally and indigenous with respect to season.  Their cooking methods are focused on bringing out the true flavor of the product rather than having to instill flavor into it.  Savory, honest and approachable, perfectly prepared, breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and in between: yours to enjoy.
 
Restaurat Owner Alison Price Becker established Alison Eighteen with her partners Michael Namer and Gary Spindler in January 2012. Alison decided to return to the New York City dining scene after the close of her first restaurant, Alison on Dominick Street.
After the much anticipated opening, Alison Eighteen beckons guests with simple, straightforward cuisine and alluring ambiance.
 
The Alison Eighteen menu, orchestrated by Executive Chef Juan Carlos Landazuri, features casual and accessible French-influenced American dishes.  Entrees are refined in its simplicity. The menu takes inspiration from local green markets and organic farms, offering soul-satisfying dishes prepared and plated using methods designed to coax honest flavors from fresh seasonal ingredients.

Roasted dishes have pride of place on the Alison Eighteen menu, courtesy of an enormous rotisserie. Cocktails are classically-crafted, while the small but thoughtful wine list showcases approximately 150 bottles focusing on small producers and bio-dynamic selections.
We dined on a selection of Appetizers including: CHARRED PORTUGUESE OCTOPUS, winter truffle, farRo, watermelon radish, grapefruit & parsley  and fried oysters. 
Afterwards we enjoyed their Signature Dish: DUCK FOR TWO complete with roasted root vegetables, pickled cranberry and
lime coriander jus.
 
Enjoy New Years Eve and book resservations, Cognac's Corner Magazine will be hosting  a Red Carpet New Years Eve  at Alison Eighteen Restaurant.
The event will be complete with two live bands, dinner and plenty of Champagne flowing.

Akbar's history began with Mr. A.N. Malhotra who designed his first eatery after the spectacular palace of the grand Mogul Emperor Akbar. Emperor Akbar lavished his guests with his kindnes and enormous hospitality. n Manhattan in 1976, after acquiring a knowledge of Indian Cuisine and a history of working in the hospitality industry, Mr. Malhotra and his son, Pradeep Malhotra established Akbar restaurant in New York City. The authentic Indian Cuisine and elegant ambiance at Akbar restaurants is traced back to the 16th century in Northern India, when royal Indian Mogul Akbar was known for his flamboyant dining in unusual surroundings.
 
Thanks to his culinary expertise and over forty years in the restaurant business, Mr. Malhotra and his successors have succeeded in continuing to serve his patrons with authentic recipes prepared by centuries-old methods and chefs imported from the palaces of Bombay. Akbar Indian Cuisine has made it possible for modern day gourmets to enjoy specialties which were virtually unheard of in America until the late 1970's.Akbar now has branches in Garden City, NY and Edison, NJ. The Garden City branch of Akbar is managed by Mr. Malhotra's daughter, Ms. Meena Chopra who was gracious to my crew and I as we spent a truly wonderful evening dining on the most magnicent Indian food.
 
Signature Dishes included: Barbeque Shrimp in a Tangy Tomato Sauce with Crushed Peppers, Samosa - Finely Seasoned Peas and Potatoes Wrapped In A Delicate, Crispy Pastry, Goby Manchurian - Golden Crispy Cauliflower Tossed With Onions And Tandoori Platter - Selected Assortment Of Chicken and Lamb Grilled In a Clay Oven.

Ruvo is owned and operated by four brothers of the DeNicola family, who settled on Long Island in 1915.  The family has a long tradition in the preparation of fine Italian fare created with the freshest ingredients.  Ruvo takes its name from a small hill town in Southern Italy – the ancestral home to part of the DeNicolas’ extended family.  On a trip to Italy in 1972 James DeNicola Sr., an artist who worked on Long Island his entire career, was inspired to create a series of woodcut prints of Ruvo.  The prints evoke the color, warmth and vitality of their regional inspiration.  A reproduction adorns the cover of the dinner menu and the original prints, along with other artwork by James Sr., hang in the restaurants in Port Jefferson and Greenlawn.
 
On the corner of Broadway and Smith Street in Greenlawn, across the street from the train station, owners Jim, Leo, Douglas and Joe built Ruvo’s original location. Since its opening in 2001, Ruvo Restaurant and Gourmet Store has become a mainstay for Greenlawn locals, and a delight to visitors to the area. The two dining rooms and the handsome wood bar and cabinetry were designed and built by the brothers using wood from their uncle’s old barn in upstate New York. Soft candlelight and live greenery complete the casual rooms with sophistocated ambiance and a touch of Italian country.
 
Five years later, in 2006, Ruvo “East” opened in Port Jefferson. Ruvo Restaurant & Bar, tucked down Wynn Lane – just off Main Street in Port Jefferson Village – treats diners to a warm and classy atmosphere with rich fabrics and authentic Italian pottery. Together, the cozy dining room, open atrium and welcoming bar create flexible spaces to accommodate parties, dinners and events of all kinds. Wander down Wynn Lane for live music on Thursday and Friday nights.
 
I had the pleasure of dining on Seared Diver Scallops -GFPorcini Crust, Butternut Squash Risotto, Arugula Pesto, Micro Greens, Lump Crab CakesChive & Grain Mustard Sauce, Lentil Salad and Crispy Skin Duck with Peach-Apricot Gastrique, Cippolini Risotto, Market Vegetables.A portion of Ruvo Restaurant sales from Long Island Restaurant week will be donated to the American Red Cross for fellow Long Islanders recovering from Hurricane Sandy.For more information about Ruvo Restaurant please visit http://ruvorestaurant.com

Savanna's Restaurant in Southampton, New York has recently updated their menu with tasty exotic dishes and sexy signature tropical cocktails to satisfy their sophisticated chic Hamptonite clientele.
 
Patrons can now enjoy an array of colorful delicious appetizers like Shrimp Cocktail in a white sauce and tuna tartare.  New to the menu is the freshly cooked Lobster Carbonara.
 
 
The vision for Savanna's was a simple one: create exceptional food and serve it flawlessly in inviting surroundings. This vision was realized, and has made Savanna's extraordinary in a town where restaurants come in and out of vogue over the course of a holiday weekend.
 
The atmosphere is relaxed yet civilized. The dining room itself is formal but at the same time airy and inviting. The restaurant caters to a hip crowd and is open year round for lunch, dinner and now brunch.  Their menu delivers the best Mexican Cuisine like Tex-Mex standards alongside some enticing modern Mexican creations as well as a wide selection of burgers and bar favorites.
 
The chef makes sure everything is fresh daily with the finest ingredients to create the most delicious authentic Mexican Cuisine.
 
Agave Bar & Mexican Grill features 75 tequilas and 20 beers on draft establishing that they are by far the best tap room and tequila bar out East. The signature drink of course is their Margaritas but Mojitos, Sangria and Pina Coladas are also a special cocktail at the restaurant. Their  bar is fabulous place to unwind and have a cold beer while  watching  a sports game on HD TV.  
 
Happy Hour is also a special to the locals that live out East.
 
My crew and I dined on Homemade Guacamole created with the freshest ingredients, served with warm tortilla chips.  Patrons can enjoy them mild, medium, or hot.
 
We also tasted the Black Bean Soup with Mexican spices, garnished with crispy tortilla strips, chopped cilantro and sour cream. 
 
 
My favorite dishes were the Mini Sushi Tacos complete with 4 tasty crispy mini tacos Sushi grade tuna with roasted corn, roasted red peppers, lime, cilantro and mango-avocado salsa served with queso fresco, guacamole & sour cream on the side and Lobster Quesadilla which is their Diced Lobster with roasted tomato salsa and Jalapeño-Cilantro butter.
 
Their Flan is the best desert.  Creamy, smooth, tangy in a wonderful berry sauce.
